Sewing curves demo

I often like to incorporate curves into my quilts. They can be a lot of fun and can give a quilt lots of visual interest. The quilt blocks above are from a pattern called “Eye See You” by Jen Kingwell and is available as an acrylic template set. Do a Google search to see where you can purchase it locally.
Cutting fabric for curves
The main tip that I have is to place the centre of the curve that you are sewing on the stretchiest part direction of the fabric. This would be at a 45 degree angle to the selvedge.
The stretch in the fabric is what will allow you to be manipulate into the curve.
I try to trace out my curves in such a way as to minimise waste while still getting the centre of the curve to be at roughly 45 degrees to the selvedge of the fabric.
Here is a video demonstration on how I machine piece curves. I hope you give them a try - with a bit of practice, they are really not that hard! Click on the little rectangle at the bottom of the video to expand the view of the video.
