When making this pattern, it's probably best to make a bunch of nine patch blocks in various colors. Making these is slow going. Then I cut my background fabric out of yardage. Then I make those blocks with the larger squares after I've made the small nine patch blocks. You feel like you are making great progress when adding those larger blocks to the other varied color smaller blocks. I can see why Jo saw this and considered it an heirloom quilt. It has got a scrappy look to it that I just love. But you shouldn't think of it as something you can make in a weekend....its more of a longer term project. I have other projects going at the same time I'm working on this one. I make a few of the 9 patch blocks each day. Adding the larger block with the larger squares is icing on the cake. It makes a lovely quilt.

Bear Face is giving me a lot of joy! I have not done FPP for a little time, and how exciting to have even the smallest parts align crisply. For a guild challenge, I am combining Bear Face with Tinsel Twirl Tree, and Beanie Bunny from the Holiday ‘25 pattern collection. I am really happy with the patterns and how things are combining for a very sweet quilt.
